Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas Challenge Tag #9

I am in pursuit of the finish line for The Funkie Junkie's 12 tags of Christmas challenge.  You can read all about her challenge, the rules, requirements, and PRIZES (yay!) HERE.  The challenge is sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique.  The Funkie Junkie has provided some incredible inspiration for this challenge.  The Week #9 inspiration tag, seen HERE really threw me for a loop.  I studied her inspiration tag for a very long time.  The thing I noticed at very first glance was the color scheme of blue and silver.  Such a beautiful combination, but not ordinarily used for the Christmas season.  I wanted to do a tag with that color scheme.  I also loved the silver embossing and accents on the inspiration tag and FJ's use of plaques.

I started my tag with Broken China DS mixed with Brushed Pewter DS.  I sponged the mixture on in an even fashion.  The color is beautiful and has a glistening sheen.  I then stamped and embossed snowflakes using silver EP in a random pattern all over the tag.  I cut a plaque and also embossed silver snowflakes on it.  I then cut a smaller plaque in black paper and stamped and embossed music notes on that.  The third plaque was stamped with the Sentiment Walking in a Winter Wonderland by Inkadinkadoo.

Winter wonderland is exactly what this cool color combination reminds me of.  I cut and silver embossed large snowflakes and attached them with brads.  I decided to make a small winter "garden" by starting with an empty ribbon roll, painting it with Picket Fence DP, then glittering it with silver glitter.  Inside this, I created the garden using Tim Holtz's festive greenery strip die.  I cut most of the pieces from white CS and painted them with the same color combination as the tag.  For the leaves I used musical notes paper and  glittered them..  Small pine cones were added as embellishment.  The garden is resting on a piece of gauze died to match.

The gauze was also used at the top of the tag.

I am learning there are more new ways to create paper crafts than I ever dreamed of.  The techniques need special supplies and these supplies can be purchased at The Funkie Junkie Boutique.  So much fun to shop the boutique.
